House of Maldon was lucky enough to observe the development of some of these gems during the recent “build”. As a drawing challenged person I watched in awe as firstly the big box of pencils and other drawing paraphernalia would appear on the dining room table, to be followed by a still life arrangement. A pristine sheet of paper was placed, just so and then I would watch as the pencil at times flew over the paper or sometimes seemed immobilized on a particularly intricate section. Many hours later an image would appear that had me shaking my head in amazement.
I love the botanical illustrations and hope there are more to come.
I am going to miss seeing this skill in action. Perhaps another building project Alexandra???
Such a beautiful comment HOM, I always appreciate the time and careful thought process that goes into your comments.
Having just unpacked the last box and already getting itchy fingers, I think I might be ready for another building project!
Hang on – what is meant by ‘missing this skill’ that was in a previous comment? Alex – you are not finishing your blog, are you? PLEASE, say no. Please let it be that I have a incorrectly comprehended those words. PLEASE, PLEASE say no!!!!
Ha ha! Lindi stress less! I am not finishing my blog, I am only getting started. Without giving away the identity of HOM as I know they wish to remain secret, we lived with them whilst doing our recent renos and that comment was implied for seeing the actual illustrations come to life in real life..
Still many years of illustrating left in my fingers. It is so lovely to hear how much you love the blog though!
Blown away by your wonderful talents Alex, such fine detail. IS it for sale?
Love Ginny
Not the original but I will have prints available soon for sale! Thanks Ginny
